Comthago verenigt de genen van het springfenomeen Comme Il Faut met een van prestatie doordrenkte Holsteinse moederlijn. Met Comme Il Faut, Carthago, Caretino, Constant en Roman op rij heeft Comthago het complete genenpakket om zowel in de sport als in de fokkerij te kunnen slagen. De door Marcus Ehning op het allerhoogste niveau uitgebrachte Comme Il Faut is een zoon van de wereldvererver Cornet Obolensky. Comme Il Faut’s moeder is de legendarische merrie Ratina Z. Comme Il Faut won al de Wereldbeker van Madrid en de Grote Prijzen van Wenen en Paderborn. Comthago’s grootvader Carthago brengt eindeloos vermogen met zich mee en sprong onder Jos Lansink tweemaal op de Olympische Spelen: Atlanta en Sydney. In de fokkerij behoort Carthago tot de beste, net als overgrootvader Caretino die nog altijd vertegenwoordigd wordt door nakomelingen op het hoogste niveau. Ook Constant en Roman presteerden op internationaal niveau.

De moederlijn van Comthago is ook bijzonder interessant: moeder Miss Carthago sprong succesvol op 1.30m-niveau in Duitsland, terwijl grootmoeder Joyce I op internationaal Grand Prix-niveau sprong onder Jörg Kreutzmann en later met de Amerikaanse Laura Kraut. Overgrootmoeder Elegance sprong op 1.35m-niveau, terwijl betovergrootmoeder Prinzess op 1.40m-niveau sprong; een zeer sportieve moederlijn dus. Daarnaast gaf Comthago’s moeder Miss Carthago al het internationale springpaard Look of Love en is ze de halfzus van het Grand Prix-springpaard Freestyle. Bet-over-groot-moeder Prinzess gaf daarbij de internationale springpaarden Mr. Chic en Cantara, terwijl ze grootmoeder is van nog drie internationale springpaarden.

Comthago zelf lijkt al het goede uit zijn pedigree te combineren; hij heeft het exterieur, de galop en lossigheid van een modern springpaard. Daarnaast springt hij met veel vermogen, afdruk en een goede techniek en hij is voorzichtig. Niet voor niets werd Comthago reservekampioen van de hengstenkeuring in Mecklenburg. Nadat Marlon Modolo Zanotelli Comthago met succes heeft opgeleid tot 1.50 niveau heeft Hessel Hoekstra de teugels inmiddels overgenomen.

Comthago geeft grote en langgelijnde veulens. Ze beschikken over een ruime bewegingen waaronder een goede galop. De oudste nakomelingen van Comthago maken goede sprongen met veel afdruk en vermogen. Dochter Next Day VDL scoorde 90 pnt. voor het vrijspringen.

Comme Il Faut, ridden at the highest level by Marcus Ehning, is a son of the world-renowned sire Cornet Obolensky, and his dam is the legendary mare Ratina Z. Comme Il Faut boasts victories in the World Cup of Madrid and the Grand Prix events of Vienna and Paderborn. Comthago’s grandfather, Carthago, brings boundless scope, having competed twice in the Olympics under Jos Lansink in Atlanta and Sydney. Carthago is a top performer in breeding, as is his great-grandfather Caretino, whose descendants continue to shine at the highest level. Both Constant and Roman also demonstrated their prowess in international competition.

Comthago’s dam line adds to his allure: mother Miss Carthago achieved success at 1.30m level in Germany, while grandmother Joyce I jumped at the international Grand Prix level under Jörg Kreutzmann and later with the American Laura Kraut. Great-grandmother Elegance jumped at 1.35m level, and great-great-grandmother Prinzess cleared fences at 1.40m level—truly a lineage rich in sporting achievements. Additionally, Comthago’s dam, Miss Carthago, produced the international showjumper Look of Love and is the half-sister of the Grand Prix showjumper Freestyle. Great-great-grandmother Prinzess contributed to the lineage with international showjumpers Mr. Chic and Cantara, while also being the grandmother of three more international showjumpers.

Comthago himself seems to embody the best of his pedigree; he possesses the conformation, gallop, and suppleness of a modern showjumper. Additionally, he jumps with significant power, impulsion, a good technique, and shows carefulness. It’s no surprise that Comthago was the reserve champion at the stallion inspection in Mecklenburg. After Marlon Modolo Zanotelli successfully trained Comthago up to the 1.50-meter level, Hessel Hoekstra has now taken over the reins.”

Comthago passes on his traits to his offspring, producing large and long-lined foals with spacious movements, including a good canter. The eldest descendants of Comthago demonstrate impressive jumps with significant impulsion and power. Daughter Next Day VDL, for instance, scored 90 points for free jumping.
