Merlot VDL

Merlot is één van de dressuurtalenten van de VDL Stud; deze driejarige hengst liep zich in de kijker op de KWPN Hengstenkeuring en werd gehuldigd als één van de KWPN-premiehengsten. Met louter stempelhengsten op rij in zijn pedigree en gefokt uit de beroemde Landsvrouw-stam, is Merlot ook genetisch een waardevolle hengst voor de dressuurfokkerij.

Merlot’s vader Bordeaux mag worden gezien als een echte stempelhengst; de door Isabel Freese en Akane Kuroki in de Grand Prix uitgebrachte hengst combineert de genen van Krack C-zoon United met de topverervers Gribaldi, Donnerhall en Rousseau. De moederlijn van premiehengst Merlot kende ook al vele successen. Moeder Hyacinth-Vrouwe is een voorlopig keur-merrie uit de preferente merrie Dolce Vita Vrouwe – tevens de moeder van de KWPN-goedgekeurde hengst Incognito. Betovergrootmoeder Mimosavrouwe is daarbij moeder van de wereldberoemde Glock’s Undercover.

Onder Femke de Laat won Merlot al driemaal op rij de voorronde van de hengstencompetitie. Dit mede dankzij zijn goede stap en rijdbaarheid.

This stallion caught attention at the KWPN Stallion Inspection and was honored as one of the KWPN premium stallions. With a lineage comprising exclusively of influential stallions and hailing from the renowned Landsvrouw line, Merlot proves to be genetically valuable for dressage breeding.

Merlot’s sire, Bordeaux, is recognized as a true stamp stallion. Successfully competed in Grand Prix by riders Isabel Freese and Akane Kuroki, Bordeaux combines the genes of Krack C’s son United with the renowned sires Gribaldi, Donnerhall, and Rousseau. The dam line of premium stallion Merlot has also seen numerous successes. His dam, Hyacinth-Vrouwe, is a provisional keur mare from the preferent mare Dolce Vita Vrouwe – also the mother of the KWPN-approved stallion Incognito. Furthermore, Merlot’s great-great-grandmother, Mimosavrouwe, is the mother of the world-famous Glock’s Undercover.

Under the rider Femke de Laat, Merlot has already won three consecutive preliminary rounds in the stallion competition. This success is attributed to his excellent walk and rideability.
